Securing Information

Every individual is using internet today. It has been useful in every person’s life because the internet can give every user an access to his or her favorite website and can have live streaming. However, whenever every user login to their accounts, they have to provide personal information. While security and privacy are promised by most websites, personal information is not completely safe and protected against hackers.

Information security is the process in which the information is secured and protected against any illegal access, usage, destruction and others. This is simply known as InfoSec. There are several measures on how information security be protected.

· Have a strong password. This will enable every user to secure their entered information.

· Guard all private information. Do not let other people have access on your own account to avoid illegal access.

· Always keep the virus protection and operating system updated. This will let every user prevent their accounts from hackers.

· Always use secured applications. This will avoid every user from hackers who diligently steal other people’s information.

· Avoid doubtful e-mails. This is one way for every hacker to do phishing. Do not click links immediately. This can easily hack anyone’s account and the information will be in danger.

· Always back-up data that can be restored. When your computer has been into serious problems, back-ups are beneficial. You will be able to retrieve all the information that was saved in the computer.

Information is not the only one that needs to be secured. Computers should also be secured properly. Computer security is also called cyber security or IT security. Computer security protects InfoSec from any harm to the hardware. It protects the information, software that it has. Computer security helps in preventing any danger to enter that can be channeled through data injection and code injection. Just like in Information security, Computer security or cyber security has also its safety measures to ensure that all it contains are protected.

· Always keep the Firewall turned on. Firewalls help in securing the computer from any hackers who wants to access any account. This will enable the computer be free from illegal access who wants to steal or delete information.

· Never forget to install anti-virus and keep them always up to date. This will prevent the computer from having any malicious software. It will eliminate any virus that has entered the computer.

· Computer’s operating system should always be updated. Its manufacturer always updates the operating systems from time to time. Operating systems that are always updated will keep the computer from any virus.

· Always be mindful of what you download. Not every downloadable file is safe for computers. There are files that have viruses and will affect the security of the computer. Before downloading any e-mail that was received, always check if the sender is familiar.

· Never forget to turn the computer off. Keeping the computers always on is prone to viruses and hackers. It avoids any attacker to gain access to the computer.

Information security, computer security or cyber security is vital today. With the advancement of technology, people can easily access anyone’s account without any hassle. Doing safety measure to keep the information and computer secured from any harm will always be a better defense for any malicious software or any hackers.
